Park Overview
Mikumi National Park is one of Tanzania’s most accessible parks, covering about 3,230 km². It shares its ecosystem with the larger Selous/Nyerere National Park and is known for open savannah landscapes similar to the Serengeti. The park hosts a variety of wildlife including lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffalos, hippos and over 400 bird species. Established in 1964, Mikumi serves as an important link in the southern safari circuit and is praised for its scenic views and wildlife density, especially in the Mkata Floodplain.
Safari Itinerary
The flight departs Zanzibar airport 07h00 and it lands Mikumi national park airstrip at about 08h10. Our safari jeep driver guide will be standing at Airstrip with a paper written your name, he will brief you regarding your game drive in Mikumi.
We start a game drive in a 4x4 modified safari vehicle exploring animals from your seat. Expect to see the major African great favorite mammals including elephant, giraffe, lion, buffalo, zebra, Leopard, hippo and many more.
Picnic lunch will be provided in the mid-day where by your guide selects a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink - a place with a clear view all round so that no predator can creep up hidden.
Late in the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled 16h00 flight to Zanzibar, arriving at 17h00
